TEDxKAIST, website development

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is called TEDx[name], where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDx[name] event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Objective
We developed and designed a website that has information of TEDxKAIST for reaching the potential attendees to know the event of TEDxKAIST. Naturally, the website should include general information about the event, including:
  • The event name, date and theme
  • The event venue and city
  • Names and backgrounds of you and your TEDx team
  • A list of the local speakers and performers
  • The session schedule (when it’s available)
  • A separate page thanking sponsors (Sponsors can't be thanked on the homepage)
Approach
We conducted development a website with an open-source, WordPress following the design guide of TEDx. At that time, we had only 5days for creating the website so we had to be quickly done. There were no drafts, create only one design to go development.

Kyungho is a really dependable and skilled web developer!
I met Kyungho when I was directing a large event in 2010 (a TEDx event in Korea). He had volunteered to help us build a website and did a great job in several ways. He was always on time, he worked hard to meet our changing design requirements, and he provided useful suggestions to help us achieve a great design result. In addition to his support in this event, it has been a pleasure staying in contact with Kyungho since working with him.
I would work with him again if the opportunity arose, and I'd recommend him to others who need someone with his skills
